Why cycling?

I love cycling. It’s my daily form of transportation. It’s good for our dear Mother Earth, good for health, fast and fun. I also love going for long cycling trips and challenging myself by trying to pass long distances in limited time.

I am lucky because I have the health to cycle, the money to buy proper gear and the motivation to do it. Not everyone is that lucky. The children on the streets of Mumbai have little chance of over owning bicycle. The disabled children of Shenzhen may never be able to achieve something as physically challenging as a long cycling trip. And even if they can achieve such a thing physically, the vast majority of people are so imprisoned by their own fear that they can’t image such a goal.

I want to cycle this distance to collect money for those who currently cannot even dream of this so that their caretakers can invest in giving them healthier, more active lives. I also want to motivate others around me to take initiative to help those weaker than them. You don’t need to be part of a big organization or have a lot of money to help. Every big project in this world is a result of one thought and one man or woman who had the courage to achieve it.
